PAM SLATTERY was born in Melbourne in 1949. As the daughter of an artist, Pam had always been interested in art and drawing, but it was not until her move to Cairns in the tropics of Far North Queensland in 1979, that she began to paint seriously. She has been painting and exhibiting professionally since 1980.

Pam's paintings were popular from the beginning of her career and have continued to be purchased by Australian and overseas art collectors. While living in Cairns, Pam exhibited permanently at the Upstairs Gallery, Reef Gallery, Christy Palmerston Gallery, Mowbray Gallery and Port Douglas Gallery of Fine Art. She has had several solo exhibitions and has been part of numerous joint exhibitions.

Pam was an artist-in-residence at the Radisson Treetops Resort, Port Douglas and at Silky Oaks Lodge, Mossman in Queensland, where she spent weeks at a time living and painting in tropical beach and rainforest surroundings.

In 1999, Pam was selected to exhibit in the prestigious Birds in Art Exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin, USA. Her painting, "Aussie Birds", was also selected for the USA National Tour and then purchased by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum as part of their permanent collection.

In 2014 and 2024 Pam was again selected to exhibit in the Birds in Art Exhibition in Wisconsin with her 2014 painting "Caught in the Act" also being purchased by the museum as part of their permanent collection. Her 2024 entry was an Artist's Book, "A Little A-Z of Australian Birds".

In 2001, Cairns City Council selected a painting by Pam Slattery from many submissions received, for purchase and presentation to Cairns' Sister City, Riga in Latvia.

On her return to Sydney, Pam became a member of The Australian Society of Miniature Art (NSW) Inc.  Pam’s great love is painting birds and she is a keen birdwatcher and photographer. She now resides in Burrawang in the Southern Highlands. Nature inspires Pam’s work and her paintings capture the texture and colours of the Australian landscape and birds.
